Many scientific efforts are underway to re-engineer the photosynthesis mechanism to increase yields and stress tolerance. ClimateCrop identified an alternative path to improve photosynthetic efficiency. It uses gene editing to unlock the potential of plants to harness more energy, store more carbon, and produce higher yields. It does this by increasing the storage of transient starch in the leaves, which plants store during the day, or under stress conditions as a source of energy.
