Cement production is responsible for ~8% of global CO₂ emissions, driven by fossil fuel use and unavoidable process emissions from limestone calcination.
TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION
CURA has developed a retrofit-ready electrochemical process that replaces high-temperature calcination with electricity. CURA's system splits limestone into decarbonized calcium hydroxide and a pure CO₂ stream, enabling low-carbon cement production. By operating at ultra-low voltages, the process significantly reduces energy consumption while eliminating process emissions at the source.
