PROBLEM FOCUS
CCS remains prohibitively expensive because it requires ultra-pure (>99%) and dry CO₂ streams that must be liquefied and transported to remote storage sites. At the same time, global critical metals supply of nickel and chromium is heavily concentrated in China, Russia, and Indonesia, creating a major supply chain bottleneck with both security and sustainability risks. FlueVault tackles both problems at once — lowering CCS costs and securing resilient supplies of critical green metals.
TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION
FlueVault’s continuous seawater system co-dissolves industrial CO₂ with abundant fine-grained olivine, permanently converting CO₂ into stable bicarbonates. The process simultaneously releases nickel and chromium, which are then captured and refined into high-purity metals for clean energy applications, like batteries. The result is a single process that makes CCS affordable while unlocking a renewable source of critical materials for the energy transition.
