PROBLEM FOCUS

High local electricity prices and grid constraints prevent many users from producing hydrogen onsite via electrolysis. However, transporting hydrogen as a gas or liquid from cheaper production sites is expensive and logistically complex, keeping delivered prices too high.

TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION

Ammonia (NH3) is far cheaper to store and transport, carrying ~10x more hydrogen per unit volume than compressed hydrogen gas. To extract this hydrogen from ammonia when and where it is needed, Hymonic delivers modular plants based on a proprietary ammonia cracking reactor and nickel-based catalyst technology. This game-changing technology enables very low-cost, decentralized ammonia cracking directly at the point of use for industry, maritime, off-grid power, and refueling stations.
