Green hydrogen, produced using renewable energy sources such as solar or wind, is essential for decarbonising hard-to-abate sectors like heavy industry, transport, and energy storage. However, green hydrogen is currently high-cost and inefficient.
TECHNOLOGY SOLUTION
Oort Energy has developed a next-generation PEM electrolyzer that delivers industry-leading efficiency, lower cost, and faster deployment. The solution prevents hydrogen crossover, which allows for thinner membranes and reduces precious metal use, thus opening the door for high-pressure electrolysis with reduced downstream costs. Oort has also developed a coating technology with significant cost reduction, and redesigned the electrochemical stack from the ground up to be mass manufacturable.
