TrelliSense

Anthropogenic methane emissions comprise approximately 30% of the total GHG load annually. Technology is required to identify and locate large sources of methane emissions so they can be addressed in a timely fashion.

TrelliSense uses the sun as a spectroscopic light source for methane detection. Its "telescope" tracks the sun over the course of a day, collecting sunlight that is then analyzed for the imprint of methane in the Earth's atmosphere using grating spectrometer technology. This allows TrelliSense to monitor methane leaks in a unique way because its line of sight moves with the sun, acting much like a methane "radar".
